Our mission

Contribute to the development of dance and contribute to the democratization of art and the progress of Puerto Rico through education, CREATION and dance for all.

The Company

Andanza, a Puerto Rican contemporary dance company and dance school, was founded in 1998 by Lolita Villanúa, its artistic and executive director, in collaboration with María Teresa Robles, director of its educational program. Since 1999, the Company has maintained a sustained production of shows and innovative projects. His presentations have been carried out in all kinds of spaces around the Island as well as in international festivals.

The School

Andanza has developed an energetic and valuable educational work that includes classes throughout the year in its own school for 300 students of all ages. Based on a strong training in ballet levels, the School teaches different genres of dance such as contemporary dance, jazz, hip hop, flamenco and tap.

The Community

Through the Danza con Andanza project, weekly workshops are offered to more than 300 children and young people from marginalized sectors and public schools, as well as scholarships, activities and shows. Andanza also offers scholarships to talented students to train at their School. It actively collaborates with numerous social causes and since 2004 has presented a Christmas season of free shows at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
